Petree_ColumbusDay_04The biggest celebration of Italian American culture took place in New York City today. The 69th annual Columbus Day Parade drew thousands of floats, marching bands and spectators to Fifth Avenue between 44th Street and 72nd Street in Manhattan. NYC Celebrates its Hispanic Heritage

Hispanic Heritage Day Parade in Manhattan. Oct. 13, 2013The Hispanic Day Parade took place today on Fifth Avenue in New York City. The parade was a festive close to Hispanic Heritage Month, which lasted from September 15 through October 15. Parade participants marched along Fifth Ave. between 44th and 72nd Streets. Macklen Mayse: Profile of an Artist

What New Yorkers discard, Macklen Mayse turns into art. Macklen lives and works in Brooklyn where she just completed a Master’s degree at the Pratt Institute. She wanders around the city looking for inspiration and creates found-object sculptures in her Brooklyn studio.
