NEW YORK – The intersection of Seventh Avenue and 41st Street in Midtown Manhattan came to symbolize the starkly opposing points of view surrounding the recent fighting between Israelis and Palestinians. As conflict between the Israeli army and Palestinians in Gaza continued to escalate, protesters turned out in Times Square on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 to demonstrate against Israeli military incursions in Gaza that reportedly killed several Palestinian civilians, including children. Supporters of the Palestinians, including a number of Orthodox Jewish rabbis, lined 7th Ave. between 41st and 42nd Street. A much smaller pro-Israeli counter-protest initially formed across the street until police set up pens and relocated demonstrators along 7th Ave. south of 41st Street.
